A solar energy grant totalling $62.4 million is coming to Kentucky’s Energy and Environment Cabinet from the Environmental Protection Agency.
The money would help make residential solar energy more available to underserved and low-income communities across the Commonwealth.
The state Solar for All program would work with energy assistance and disaster housing programs to find what households are most in need.
It’s meant to help reduce both the cost of installation and utility bills for those who need it, while also reducing emissions.
Kentucky is receiving the money from the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, part of the Inflation Reduction Act passed by Congress in 2022.
