Governor Beshear announced Tuesday that a 150-thousand square foot portion of the John Will Stacy MMRC Regional Industrial Park in Morehead has been certified build-ready. Jason Slone is president and CEO of the Morehead-Rowan County Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development.
“What a build-ready is, is basically bringing a greenfield space that's currently undeveloped, providing it with all the grades and drain and bringing it up to a level standard with all of the required certifications that the state would require.”
Slone said officials learned of the site-ready certification in late October, and two industrial site users have expressed interest.
“Those are the very reasons why we take our funding and be able to work with the state's funding on these programs provided by the legislature and the Cabinet for Economic Development.”
The local industrial development authority and Kentucky Product Development Initiative split the $425,000 cost of preparing the property for new users.
