According to a news release from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, more than $3 million worth of grants are headed to Kentucky as part of the White House Blueprint for Addressing the Maternal Health Crisis. One million will go to Frontier Nursing University, in Woodford County, to help the school recruit more Hispanic students. An award of nearly a million dollars will improve maternal health services, including mobile health units for areas with few providers. Another $750,000 will support training for “patient safety bundles" to help patients dealing with severe hypertension and those dealing with substance use disorder.
