Kentucky communities undergoing damage assessment underway after recent storms bring floods and high winds
Emergency management officials in several Kentucky communities are assessing damage from heavy rains and wind this week. State Emergency Management Director Jeremy Slinker said some eastern Kentucky communities hit hard by flooding in 2022 saw flash flooding the last day or so.
“A lot of those repairs are still in progress. Those projects are still be worked out and funded. And then you have an additional event comes along and maybe washes out your progress,” said Slinker.
Slinker said there were some water rescues Friday, primarily from stranded cars. He noted Russell County saw some damage from straight winds. The emergency management director added much of the water-related damage occurred along roadways.
Slinker said a small number of houses in various counties were impacted by high water.
