The clock is ticking for flood survivors who have not yet applied for individual assistance in eastern Kentucky. The application period to apply for federal aid comes to a close on Friday.
Brianna Fenton is a spokesperson for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. She said there is a variety of ways survivors can apply for help.
“Survivors can apply online at disasterassistance.gov, they can call FEMA’s helpline, they can use the FEMA mobile app, or they can use a FEMA disaster center to meet face to face with a FEMA representative and get assisted with their application process and any questions they may have.”
Fenton said flood survivors need to have their documents in order when they reach out.
“We recommend survivors have their ID, a current phone number, their address at the time of the disaster, the address of where they are now staying, social security number and a list damage and losses.”
Fenton said any kind of photos of the damage and insurance information will also help. So far, FEMA has received over 15-thousand applications for individual assistance.
