Kentucky is further expanding Medicaid. Governor Andy Beshear announced the removal of barriers to dental, vision, and hearing care. The plan is to give Kentuckians easier access to this care so they can better contribute to the workforce.
Ben Chandler is the President and CEO at Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky. During the governor’s Team Kentucky update, he said being able to work contributes to improving one’s health.
“To be able to be employed, to be able to make a living for your family, to get your family in a healthy economic position, all of the data shows, that when you work, you have a much better chance at having good health.”
Chandler said if Kentuckians aren’t healthy, they can’t work.
“What this is going to do is have such a positive impact on, not only our workforce, it is going to have such a positive impact on the health and welfare of our people here in this commonwealth, and I cannot think anything more important.”
Medicaid members will be able to access these benefits beginning January first 2023. The governor said more than 900-thousand adults are enrolled in Kentucky’s Medicaid program.
