Timothy J. Singleton, 75, passed away July 5, 2022 in Ormond Beach, Florida. Tim was born November 7, 1946 in Decatur, IN to Elizabeth (Ferro) and Kenneth Singleton. His wife of 50 years, Barbara Singleton, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children, Kristin Singleton, Amy Bowden (Kent), and Michael (Jill) Singleton and nine grandchildren with whom he enjoyed spending time.

After graduating from Decatur High School in 1965, Tim went on to Indiana University and graduated with an undergraduate and Master’s degree in Radio/Television. He was a member of the Air Force and was stationed in Alaska where he worked in communications.

After leaving the Air Force, Tim taught Radio/Television classes at Indiana University and then at Indiana/Purdue University Fort Wayne. He moved on to become the General Manager of WBNI in Ft. Wayne. He spent the rest of his career working in public radio, moving from WBNI to KUNM in Albuquerque, NM; WEKU in Richmond, KY; and WBAA in West Lafayette, IN.

Tim and Barba married in 1970. Together, they enjoyed many activities through their 50 years of marriage, music being one of their favorites. Tim played the trombone, sang in church choirs, played the organ (he had an old church organ in his house in Richmond), played handbells, and the dulcimer.

In his later years, Tim learned Italian and took a couple of trips to Italy to visit family that reside in the Calabria region. He also was interested in genealogy and spent quite a few years researching and documenting his family history.

Tim will be greatly missed by his family. There will be no memorial services, but if you would like to honor Tim’s legacy, donations can be made to any local NPR station.
