Jury trials delayed in flood impacted communities

Not surprisingly, the historic and wide-ranging flood damage is affecting the wheels of justice in some hard-hit areas.

The flooding in eastern Kentucky is impacting jury trials in Perry and Knott Counties. The disruption in mail service has made it difficult to notify citizens of their jury service being postponed. The Knott County Judicial Center is closed until further notice.

Knott County residents recently summoned for jury duty should not report until October. Jury trials in Perry Circuit Court for August have been canceled and not rescheduled. Perry District Court cases have been rescheduled for September and October. Jurors will be mailed a jury service update in the coming weeks.
