Family Foundation of Kentucky welcomes Court of Appeals decision on abortion ban

A representative of Kentucky’s Family Foundation is hailing Monday’s State Court of Appeals ruling regarding abortion as a victory. The action by the state’s second-highest court overturned a July 22nd injunction by a Jefferson circuit judge. That blocked enforcement of Kentucky’s abortion ban.

Kentuckians will be asked in November to put language in the state constitution stating there’s no right to abortion unless the mother’s life is in danger. Family Foundation Director David Walls believes that the amendment will pass.

“We are certainly confident that..Kentucky is a pro-life state and pro-life Kentuckians will get out and vote in favor of the yes for life amendment, which will be on the ballot,” said Walls.

In a statement the Kentucky chapter of the ACLU said two Louisville facilities had stopped performing the procedure.

The ACLU said it plans to take the most recent Court of Appeals ruling on abortion to the Kentucky Supreme Court. ACLU Spokesman Samuel Crankshaw’s statement reads in part, quote, “No Kentuckian should ever be forced to remain pregnant against their will. Despite this setback, we will never stop fighting for your right to make the best decisions for yourself.
