Much of central and eastern Kentucky are listed as high on the COVID-19 community levels. People are encouraged to wear masks in crowded indoor areas. Health officials still say getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself and your family. A “vaccine extravaganza” event in Lexington is being held this weekend to help.
Kevin Hall is a spokesman for the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department. He said there may be some confusion when it comes to extra boosters.
“There is the first dose, the second dose and then the first booster, a third shot. For certain people, ages 50 and older and people with compromised immune systems, that fit specific categories, they would be eligible for a 4th booster. The best thing to do is call your provider, call your health department and ask.”
Hall said there is some extra incentive for the weekend’s event in Lexington.
“While supplies last, there are gift cards available for people who come out. Just a little extra incentive, as if slowing the pandemic and protecting your family isn’t enough, a little extra could help everyone who needs this.”
This weekend’s event in Lexington is being held Friday and Saturday at the Kroger Stadium Green Lot. It will run from 8:30AM to 4:30PM and no advance registration is required.
