Money from the American Rescue Plan Act is being used to provide clean drinking water across Kentucky. The governor’s office announced the 30-million-dollars will be used for 29 projects, many of them in eastern Kentucky.

Breathitt County Water District is receiving 3-point-3-million-dollars. It will be used to extend a waterline and build two large water storage tanks. Bobby Thorpe is the chairman of the water district. In a recorded message during Governor Beshear’s Team Kentucky briefing, he said these projects will have a long-time benefit.

“This 3.3-million-dollar investment will provide water lines beginning at Highway 30 east near the Rousseau School extend it to Wolfe Creek and near the Breathitt/Magoffin line. This investment for the future will not only help current residents, but also their children, grandchildren and many generations to come.”

The Morgan County Water District is receiving nearly three-million dollars to construct 39-thousand feet of waterline, two pump stations and two water tanks. Shannon Elam is the district’s general manager. In a recorded message during Governor Beshear’s Team Kentucky briefing, he said this will directly benefit citizens of the county.

“This project is going to be very helpful for our community. We estimate that we have about 70 families here in the county that will benefit from this Cleaner Water grant program to provide them with clean drinking water.”

Floyd County is receiving nearly two million dollars for a series of projects.
