A fire has destroyed at least four buildings in downtown Millersburg in Bourbon County.
Firefighters were dispatched to the fire in downtown Millersburg Wednesday afternoon. Four buildings were destroyed and a fifth building was damaged, according to Maj. Brent Wilson with the Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office.

No one was injured in the fire. However, two firefighters were treated for heat illness. Wilson said the hot weather combined with the thick gear makes it hard to stay cool.
“They try to rotate out in shifts, and try to keep everybody cool,” Wilson said. “We were very fortunate the townspeople here in Millersburg were bringing us coolers and ice,” Wilson said.
Firefighters gained control of the fire within a few hours but the hot weather and gusty winds contributed to damage.
“We do believe that wind could have definitely played a factor in the front wall falling off of one of these older buildings. It did send all bricks crashing into Main street here in Millersburg,” Wilson said.

Firefighters are still on scene to monitor hotspots.
