Community spread in Madison County is at a medium level.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state guidelines recommend masking indoors in crowded settings. Eastern Kentucky University has not changed its mask optional policy.

Bryan Makinen is the associate vice president for facilities management safety at EKU. If someone requests that masks be worn in a meeting, masking is still optional.

“Certainly we’ve become accustomed over the past couple of years to using zoom or Microsoft teams or several other various platforms that we have where everyone can be included in the conversations in the meetings that take place," he said.

The latest Kentucky COVID-19 data shows Kentucky has a positivity rate is 12.45%.
