Law enforcement officials have completed their investigation of the bomb threat at Kentucky State University. The school’s shelter in place order has been lifted and school officials say it is now safe to return to campus. The threat was made early Tuesday morning. University police worked with local and state law enforcement agencies to search campus facilities and an all-clear has been issued.
In a statement posted on KSU’s website, virtual classes are authorized for the rest of the day. Employees should report to work and students living on campus can resume access to dining and student facilities. Normal operations and classes are expected to resume tomorrow. As a precaution, students and employees will be required to use their campus ID to enter campus and campus buildings.
This is the latest in a rash of threats made in recent weeks against historically Black colleges and universities. On January 5th at least three HBCUs received bomb threats. At least six of these schools received a bomb threat on Monday.
Tuesday’s bomb threat came only a day after similar threats were made on two separate schools in Franklin County on Monday. A suspect has been arrested in connection with those incidents.
