Kentucky Farmers Harvest Record Wheat Crop

wkyufm.org

Kentucky farmers broke a record for wheat production this year.

Winter wheat production in Kentucky increased 42 percent this year, compared
to the 2020 harvest, which was impacted by poor weather conditions.

That dramatic increase in Kentucky stands out compared to overall U.S. wheat production, which decreased 10 percent this year.

The National Agricultural Statistics Service in Louisville reported that Kentucky wheat farmers harvested 87 bushels per acre this season. That shatters the previous record of 80 bushels per acre in 2016.

Across the Bluegrass State, farmers harvested more than 30 million bushels of wheat this past summer.
