Forestry Department Raises Awareness

The state’s Division of Forestry is stepping up its campaign to raise awareness about burning this fall. The division announced this week that it is illegal to burn anything within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. through Dec. 15. Leah MacSwords, director of the Division of Forestry, said battling wildfires has become more difficult in recent years because the division has been doing more with less.
