The mercury climbed to the mid-90s and higher today across the western two-thirds of Kentucky. The National Weather Service says we will be stuck with heat and high humidity through Sunday when a cold front will deliver scattered thunderstorms. The storms will drop temperatures down into the 80s.That means the heat index will hit the 100-degree mark for the western two-thirds of the state today, Friday and Saturday.
If working or playing outside, take frequent breaks, drink plenty of fluids and wear light colored, loose-fitting clothing, NWS said.
But real relief is on the way. The forecast calls for Monday's highs to be in the 70s.
