Wildfires

Next month marks the start of the Kentucky Division of Forestry’s fall forest fire season, which enacts statewide burn restrictions. That comes as the U.S. Drought Monitor reports 80 percent of Kentucky is already experiencing a drought.

The Kentucky Division of Forestry says a forecasted drop in humidity early next week could see eastern Kentucky continue to be at risk for more wildfires.

A state of emergency was declared Thursday as wildfires are being reported across the Commonwealth, mainly in eastern Kentucky.
