Kentucky labor force, unemployment rate shows slight increase

The Kentucky Center for Statistics says county-by county unemployment is up slightly from last year. But that’s because more people are entering the Commonwealth’s labor force.

The grant will be going to the nonprofit Shaping Our Appalachian Region, also known as SOAR.

The Kentucky Center for Statistics says the preliminary unemployment rate for May is at 4.6 percent – unchanged from its last monthly report. It’s also 0.5 percent higher than the unemployment rate a year ago.
