Governor Beshear is asking Attorney General Daniel Cameron to post online all the information, evidence, and facts he can release regarding the police shooting of Breonna Taylor.
Cameron held a news conference Wednesday after a Jefferson County Grand Jury released its report. In it, no police officers were indicted in connection with the Louisville woman’s death. One officer was indicted on three counts of first degree wanton endangerment. Beshear said more information is often a good thing. "I trust Kentuckians. They deserve to see the facts for themselves and I believe that the ability to process those facts, helps everybody," said Beshear.
State Cabinet Secretary J. Michael Bryant says he and Governor Beshear have had many conversations in recent months regarding racial issues. Bryant offered his thoughts following the grand jury report.
Bryant said changes are needed in the criminal justice system including those involving technology along with disclosure of information.
Bryant noted he’s had 4 decades of time in law. At 71, the former district judge and deputy attorney general, said he’s lived through the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy, and Malcolm X. Bryant said there’s a need to change behavior and process.?
