Campbellsville House Leader Making Strides In Long Term Recovery

wdrb.com

The Kentucky General Assembly has just completed an abbreviated 2020 legislative session.  Lawmakers were in session 53 days, cut short from the traditional 60 days due to coronavirus impacts.  But, one prominent House leader wasn’t able to participate at all.  Taylor County’s John “Bam” Carney has battled a severe case of pancreatitis since late December.

Campbellsville Senator Max Wise reported Wednesday his friend has been moved to the Frazier Rehabilitation Center in Louisville. “Which I know is very welcoming for him now to go through the various types of physical therapy, speech therapy, and other types of therapy that he will be put through in the many days and possibly months ahead,” said Wise.

Wise told fellow senators the House majority floor leader’s been in the care of medical professionals for 115 days.  He said Carney sat in a chair for the first time and made his first phone call by himself this past weekend in over 110 days.
