Lawmakers Begin Review Of Governor Beshear's Budget

Stu Johnson

Governor Beshear’s just released two year budget calls for $18.2 million to support school security upgrades.  In his speech, the governor noted that amount is in line with the request by the Kentucky School Boards Association.

Senate President Robert Stivers was asked if his chamber might be willing to place more money into school security.  “I think we could potentially find other dollars to put there, but we would want to and we are evaluating what his recommendation is,” said Stivers.

Stivers added it’s an evaluation process and it’s not going to be fast.  First, members of the House Appropriations and Revenue Committee will review Beshear spending suggestions.  It may be a month before the budget gets to the Senate.?
