The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is releasing a list of statewide projects to help in the development of the next highway plan.
Regional transportation leaders are being asked to help prioritize road projects.
Staff in the transportation cabinet have evaluated and scored more than 1,100 projects using a data-driven investment formula. The six-year road plan includes $6 billion worth of projects with about $2.6 billion proposed for the next six-year cycle.
The list identifies 70 projects with statewide significance. These will be considered for funding through a statewide funding pool.
Over the coming weeks, local transportation officials will be asked to consider the thousand plus projects in setting priorities for the six year road plan.
Kentucky Transportation Secretary Greg Thomas has also announced the recommended highway plan will include an additional $205 million annually to repair or replace aging bridges and roads.
