Members of Kentucky Adoption Task Force Named

Kentucky House Speaker Jeff Hoover has announced a new task force that will overhaul the state’s adoption process. A bi-partisan group of eight House members are tasked with streamlining the process and making it more affordable.

Governor Matt Bevin and his wife Glenna adopted four children from Ethiopia after first being rejected for a domestic adoption. Bevin recently encouraged Kentucky’s faith-based community to provide permanent homes for children, many of whom are in foster care and eligible for adoption.  "There's more than 6,000 churches in Kentucky. There shouldn't be any child in Kentucky able to be adopted who does not have a home," said Bevin.

The task force announced Wednesday will present recommended legislation to Speaker Hoover by the end of the year in time for the 2018 General Assembly session.
