A veteran State lawmaker says she’s been greatly impacted by a weekend fire in Carter County. Senator Robin Webb told her colleagues Monday about the blaze that broke out Friday night at Mose Oppenheimer Stables on Tick Ridge. Eleven horses and three dogs died in the fire. Webb says she’s known the Oppenheimer family for years. “It could have been a lot worse," Webb said. "We’re thankful that there was no human loss of life, but certainly it does leave a huge hole in our hearts regarding the eleven horses that were there and I was gonna show one myself this summer."
Webb says she’s logged many show miles with the owners. “The Oppenheimers plan on building back and continuing to be a component of our equine industry as well as supporting our trail town initiative in Olive Hill and Morehead,” added Webb.
The Grayson senator says the barn held Tennessee Walking horses. She says she’s been showing that breed of horse since 1970.?
