EKU Versus Austin Peay Again In OVC Tournament

ekusports.com

The Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team opens play in the Ohio Valley Conference tournament late tonight.  The Colonels have a history of lasting memories, both good and bad, in games involving tonight’s opponent.

EKU takes on Austin Peay tonight in a game expected to tip off around 10:30. The Colonels come into the OVC tourney at 21-6 with a record 15 league wins.  The Governors enter the contest at 14 and 12, having split with Eastern during the regular season.

But, these two squads have a history.  Back in 1987, a last second shot not far inside half court knocked EKU out of the NCAA tournament.  But, in 2005 it was a three pointer by Zach Ingles under 30 seconds and then two years later a last second floater by Josh Taylor that put Eastern into the Big NCAA dance.  All three games involved Austin Peay.

If Eastern wins tonight, Morehead would be the semi-final opponent.
