Breeders' Cup Festival Features Virtual And Live Events

A welcomed break from politics is taking place in Lexington this week.  Much of the Thoroughbred horse racing world will be watching the Breeders’ Cup and activities associated with the event.

Lexington Breeders’ Cup Festival Chair Kip Cornett says roving musicians are traveling around the downtown area. “If you come downtown we will have properly social distanced musician stations, if you will, not stages where a musician will play for about 45 minutes, then move to another station, then move to another station,” said Cornett.

The roving musical performances will occur from 5:00 until 10:00 each evening through Saturday.  Cornett noted there are also 48 painters doing public art projects around Lexington’s downtown area.  Cornett added economic benefits can come in time but not so much this week.  Cornett said the world will be watching Lexington.  In addition to this year, the Breeders Cup was held in Lexington in 2015 and it’s scheduled to return in 2022.

The racing events run Friday and Saturday at Keeneland.
