EKU Homecoming Weekend Includes Contest Against Nationally Ranked Opponent

eku.edu

Eastern Kentucky University is celebrating homecoming this weekend in Richmond.  Many activities are virtual, but football will still be played on the field Saturday afternoon.  EKU takes on Central Arkansas at 3 p.m.

The Colonels will play the Bears a second time in Arkansas on November 14th.  EKU Head Coach Walt Wells says this season is unusual in many ways. “It was really just putting the schedule together.  They’re a very good football team.  Let’s play them twice.  Why not?  I mean they do it in the NFL.  So, what’s the big deal about that?   I know it’s not the norm but 2020 is not the norm anyway,” said Wells.

Eastern comes into the contest with a one and four record after a last second loss to Troy.  Central Arkansas is three and three and ranked 11th in the nation.

Many Colonel fans will be remembering Chris Isaac this weekend.  The former EKU quarterback died this past week at age 61.  Isaac was a part of the 1979 national championship team and was the starting quarterback on national runner up teams his junior and senior years.?
