kentucky.com

The Eastern Kentucky University football team opened its season and the Coach Walt Wells era with a lopsided loss to Marshall Saturday.  The Colonels will travel back to West Virginia this upcoming weekend.

The Thundering Herd got off to a thundering herd kind of start, scoring 21 points in the first quarter and holding EKU scoreless for all four quarters.  The final score was Marshall 59 Eastern Kentucky zero.

EKU Quarterback Parker McKinney completed seven of ten passes for 71 yards and Colonel Quentin Pringle had 39 rushing yards on six carries.  Marshall Quarterback Grant Wells threw for 307 yards, going 16 of 23 with four touchdowns.

The task may only get harder this weekend as EKU heads to Morgantown to take on West Virginia.  Kickoff Saturday is scheduled for noon.?
