EKU'S New Football Coach No Stranger To Colonel Football

Eastern Kentucky University’s new football coach is someone with great familiarity with Colonel football.  A formal campus announcement is scheduled Tuesday to introduce Walt Wells.

Wells has been named as Eastern’s 15th head coach.  He takes over for Mark Elder who was relieved of his duties two weeks ago, after four seasons at the Richmond school.

Wells served as an assistant under legendary Eastern Coach Roy Kidd from 1997 to 2002.  He was also an assistant at EKU in 2015.  Most recently, Wells held the position of quality control assistant at UK during 2018 and 2019 seasons.  He has also spent time at Cumberland University, Western Kentucky, South Florida, and New Mexico State.
