Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball team takes to the court this week to begin season two under Head Coach A.W. Hamilton. The Scott County native said look for the same up-tempo, defense focused team this season.
Gone this year is EKU's all-time leading scorer, Nick Mayo. Hamilton noted Mayo was asked to carry much of the offensive punch during his time at EKU. He said there will be more balance this season with a a relatively young squad.
“And I told you last year, look we’re not just going to build a team, we’re going to build a program. And we’re going to be really young again, we’re going to wake up one day and we’re going to be old and then we’re going to stay old and we’re going to be good for a long time,” said Hamilton.
Eastern plays an exhibition game Thursday night against Berea College. The Colonels entertain UT Chattanooga for their regular season opener next Tuesday on election night. Coach Hamilton is hoping for a packed house.
