Lexington’s Keeneland race track will welcome patrons to its spring meet today. During the month of April visitors can experience expanded walking tours of the historic facility.
Opening weekend at Keeneland includes seven graded-stakes races. But, not all the attention will center on horses and jockeys on the dirt or turf. Keeneland Spokeswoman Amy Gregory says guided walking tours will include the stable area. She says it will give visitors more of an insiders’ view. “You can go to the jockeys’ room. You can go to some rooms that really aren’t open to the public and kind of get a behind the scenes view of Keeneland,” explained Gregory.
Two major prep races for the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks will be run this weekend with the Toyota Bluegrass and Central Bank Ashland Stakes. First post time each race day for the meet which runs through the end of April is 1:05.?
