Last night's matchup between Eastern Kentucky University and Western Kentucky University had all the drama of a cross state rivalry game. When the last second shot fell, it was the Hilltoppers who celebrated.
Western Kentucky University handed Eastern Kentucky University a gut wrenching 86-84 loss in Diddle Arena. It was the 13th straight victory for WKU in a renewal of the in state battle.
In the early going, it looked as if the Hilltoppers would run away with the game. After Western jumped out to a 21 to 2 lead, EKU came clawing back to be down by just one at the half. Western’s margin grew in the second half, but again EKU came back and took a one point lead before Justin Johnson hit the game winner for the toppers.
Eastern continues on the road at Savannah State this weekend. Western travels to Xavier.
