Fans to Celebrate Colonels' OVC Victory at NCAA Selection Party

kentucky.com

Fans of the Ohio Valley Conference basketball champions, the Eastern Kentucky Colonels, will gather this weekend in Richmond to celebrate the victory and to find out who the team plays first in the Big Dance.

On Sunday, fans will join Head Basketball Coach Jeff Neubauer and the team for the 2014 NCAA Tournament Selection Party.  The EKU Center for the Arts will host the event.  The Colonels earned an automatic bid following their defeat of No. 1 seed Belmont in Nashville last weekend.

Simon Gray is acting Director of Athletics at Eastern Kentucky University.  Grey says the agenda planned for the selection party provides a good opportunity for the championship team to share the OVC conference victory with Colonel Nation.

"We'll have a few activities for fans to take part in," said Gray.  "And then we'll settle in for the selection show and find out where the Colonels are gonna play in the NCAA tournament.”

Activities include the opportunity for fans to take a picture with the OVC Championship trophy and wear the official OVC Championship net.  Later in the program, Colonels Coach Jeff Neubauer will introduce the team and speak to the crowd.

The evening will be capped off with a free performance by the band “Sundy Best”.  The first games of the NCAA Tournament are scheduled for Tuesday, March 18th.
