Freedom Riders Reflect On 50th Anniversary
Fifty years ago, a small group boarded a bus in Washington D.C. to challenge racial segregation in the deep South. They were nearly burned alive in Alabama. Then hundreds of activists joined the movement to keep the rides going. Host Michel Martin speaks with two Freedom Riders about this historical episode. Congressman Bob Filner and Rev. Reginald Green were college students when joining and were consequently jailed.

Bin Laden's Courier, Abu Ahmed al-Kuwaiti, Had Several Responsibilities
Al-Kuwaiti was bin Laden's right-hand man, according to evidence in secret documents detailing information obtained from detainees held at the U.S. detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
CIA Used Satellites To Prep For Bin Laden Raid
It was last August when the CIA first homed in on the compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan where Osama bin Laden was ultimately found and killed. In the months leading up to that raid, the CIA and Pentagon used an array of satellite technology and imagery to learn more about that compound and who might be inside. Melissa Block speaks with John Pike, director of GlobalSecurity.org, about satellites and imagery used before and during the Osama bin Laden campaign.

Looking For Answers In Syria
In Syria, hundreds of government opponents have been arrested by authorities this week, according to human rights activists. It's been over a month since the uprising began there, threatening the regime of President Bashar Assad. Melissa Block talks with Wissam Tarif, executive director of the human rights group Insan. Tarif has been compiling numbers of Syrians who have been killed and detained.

Hong Kong Graffiti Challenges Chinese Artist's Arrest
The face of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei has been spray-painted across Hong Kong in the month since he was detained. Many residents like the graffiti's aesthetic and message, but the campaign could lead to jail time for the graffiti artist. That has raised fears about the erosion of Hong Kong's freedoms.
