Major Interchange Project Could Impact Commuters

Significant traffic delays could occur early this week at a Madison County Interstate 75 interchange.

Kentucky Transportation Department Spokesperson Natasha Lacy says the interchange bridge is being reconstructed. “The purpose, of course, is to provide safety, provide additional capacity at the intersections and reduce delay.  The existing interchange is a traditional diamond.  The new interchange will be a diamond also, but it will be reworked.  There will be lanes added and more space,” said Lacy.

Lane reductions will occur Monday and Tuesday nights as barrier walls are installed near the interchange.  Lacy says signas changes will also chnage.

Exit 95 is used by many commuters going from Richmond to Winchester or vice versa.  The $13 million project is expected to be completed by September of 2020.
