Kentucky voters will head to polling locations all across the Commonwealth Tuesday. There will be far fewer voters showing up to their local polling station than in years past.
While in-person voting is expected to be down from previous Primaries, overall voter participation is anticipated to be high. Secretary of State Michael Adams said the state is on track for the most successful Primary ever because it’s been easier to vote than ever. Still, with the emphasis on mail-in voting, Adams said a winner in the highly watched democratic U.S. senate race will not be known Tuesday.
“It will be a week for that, I can guarantee you, for this reason. The two biggest counties Jefferson and Fayette have announced they’re not going to release any numbers until the 30th. There’s no way to know who won the democratic Primary for U.S. Senate in Kentucky without knowing Fayette and Jefferson’s numbers. That’s where most of the votes are.”
Adams said some local race results could come in much quicker. More than 883,000 ballots were requested statewide and more than 452,000 had been returned as of Monday.
