EKU Football Game Set For Saturday Under State And NCAA COVID Guidelines

ekusports.com

While new COVID-19 restrictions issued by Governor Beshear go into effect this afternoon, the new requirements don’t mean the cancelation of certain collegiate athletic events.

Governor Beshear’s executive order shuts down indoor dining, moves public schooling online, and reduces capacities in gyms and indoor gatherings in homes.  But, football contests at Eastern Kentucky University and the University of Louisville remain on the schedule this weekend.

EKU President David McFaddin says the Colonels game Saturday against Western Carolina will be played, quote, “with government approved capacity limits, and meets public health protocols set forth by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the NCAA.”  The statement goes on to say, “As referenced by Governor Beshear this week, college athletic departments are uniquely positioned with resources and outdoor venues to enforce social distancing guidelines.”  Kickoff against Western Carolina is set for 3:00.
