Republicans outpace Democrats in Kentucky voter rolls less than a month before the election

Republican Party of Kentucky

Kentucky’s midterm elections are less than a month away and Republicans seem to be well positioned. The State Board of elections shows that in August there were 12,700 more registered Republicans than Democrats.

Mac Brown is Chairman of the Republican Party of Kentucky. He said his party has seen participation growth in all areas.

“A demographic that I believe has great opportunity is the African American community. I think that they are seeing that they’ve been underserved and I believe there have been some head-ways there,” said Brown.

Brown said the GOP has seen more involvement from the Hispanic community as well.

“And what you really find out is people in these communities by and large are pretty conservative. I mean, they’re really interested in the basics you know, and that’s important,” said Brown.

Brown said the Dobbs decision on abortion this summer has brought the conversation to the fore front.

Brown said he expects voter turnout to be on pace with other non-presidential election years.

The leader of the Democratic Party of Kentucky recently said his party is in a state of rebuilding.
