Fayette County Clerk Announces Voting Locations And Drop Boxes

Fayette County Clerk Don Blevins has announced six in-person locations for early and day-of voting in this general election.  Starting October 13th voters can cast ballots at Tates Creek, Northside, and Beaumont library branches plus the Dunbar Center, Senior Center, and Bluegrass Community and Technical College Leestown Campus.

Blevins said voter drop boxes will be situated at the three library branches, the Senior Center, in front of the County Clerk’s offices on Main Street and one yet to be determined site. “The drop boxes we’re purchased are heavy gauge steel, they will be bolted to the ground in their various locations.  They are designed for this exact process.  They’ve been used by many other states many times.  So, I’m very confident in their ability to handle the job,” said Blevins.

Blevins said on-site voting spots can handle about 25% of anticipated voters, so he hopes most people will opt to mail in their ballots.  For those who do vote in person Blevins noted there will be paper ballots, so the process should move faster than previous years.    Library Director Heather Dieffenbach said patrons can still check out books during the early voting period.  “I want to commend the library staff for their work to accommodate voting while maintaining library services for our customers.  Our team is dedicated to our community and I am proud that we will be able to help all members of this community to exercise their right to free and fair elections in this important year for our democracy,” said Dieffenbach.

Voters can apply for a ballot at go-vote-ky dot com through October ninth for mail-in purposes.
