Major Party Candidates for Lieutenant Governor to Debate in Midway

lwv.org

Midway University will host a debate next month between the major party candidates for Kentucky’s lieutenant governor. The event is co-sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Kentucky.

The September 23rd debate between Democrat Sannie Overly and Republican Jenean Hampton will be televised. The hour long event will be broadcast on WKYT-TV in Lexington and WLKY-TV in Louisville.

University President John Marsden says, as the state’s only women’s college, it’s important for Midway to bring events of this kind to the central Kentucky campus.  Marsden says to have two strong female candidates participating gives students an idea of the increased role women are playing in the political process.

The Overly-Hampton debate will be held in Midway’s Anne Hart Raymond Building Auditorium at 7 pm on September 23rd.
