Berea Council Holding Forum on Gay Rights Law

wikipedia.org

Berea's City Council is holding a forum to discuss an upcoming vote on an ordinance that prohibits discrimination against gays.

The Tuesday evening forum will be held at the Folk Center on Jefferson Street.

The council held the first reading of its draft ordinance on Sept. 2, and the second and final reading is scheduled for next month.

If enacted, the city would become the eighth in Kentucky to pass a law aimed at protecting gays, bisexuals and transgender people from discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodations, according to The Fairness Campaign, an advocacy group that has lobbied for the new ordinance.

The forum begins at 6:30 p.m. EDT.
