The 2014 Fancy Farm Picnic in western Kentucky is now just a little more than two weeks away and the line-up of speakers is almost complete. But not quite.
Incumbent Senator Mitch McConnell and his challenger Democrat Alison Lundergan Grimes are expected to face-off for the second time on the rebuilt speaking platform August 2nd. But according to the latest list of speakers issued from Fancy Farm political chair Mark Wilson, McConnell is still listed as T-B-D.
McConnell has yet to confirm an appearance at the Marshall County G-O-P’s Night Before Fancy Farm event.
Grimes has confirmed for both the big event itself as well as the rival Friday night event… the Marshall County Democratic Party’s Bean Dinner.
2016 Presidential hopeful Senator Rand Paul will keynote the Friday night Republican event, before his speech at Fancy Farm. 2015 gubernatorial hopeful Democrat Jack Conway will speak. Republican James Comer who is mulling a run will also take the stage. The lone Republican to officially enter the race, Hal Heiner is not currently on the speakers list.
