GOP Retains Majority in State Senate

Voters gave Republicans another big majority in the Kentucky Senate on Tuesday, ensuring that Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear must wheedle and compromise to get what he wants over the next two years. The Democratic Party never tried to take the Senate this fall. “One reason they’re not making a hard run at the state Senate is that we’re making a hard run at the state House. They can’t do two things at once, so they have to play defense,” said Steve Robertson, chairman of the Republican Party of Kentucky.
