Flood debris in Hindman, Ky

The human toll and destruction of the massive flash flood that struck southeast Kentucky on July 27-28, 2022 is remembered one year later.

Housing is our focus as the loss of thousands of homes remains a serious issue in a region that was already suffering from a housing shortage and the loss of population. Also in this episode: why the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is years behind non-government climate scientists on modeling how climate change is now influencing extreme weather; a look at the confusing language used to describe the severity of floods; and Special Topics Reporter Chris Begley offers a reflection on what has been learned since July 27, 2022.

Crystal Jones, co-host.
