Two University of Louisville coaches are getting contract revisions. The U of L Athletic Association board Tuesday approved the upgrades for women’s basketball coach Jeff Walz  and baseball coach Dan McDonnell.

.Athletic Director Vince Tyra  says final details are being worked out, but Walz will get an extension and both coaches will receive increases in their base salaries.
The athletic association also unveiled its budget for 2018-19. The $107 million plan includes some cost cutting in the men’s basketball program, now headed by first-year coach Chris Mack. Tyra says the plan will cut some $2.3 million from the basketball budget.

“The bulk of it is in salaries, obviously, amongst the whole staff, the size of the staff and the way we went about positions. We were clear with Chris up front about where we want to be on what we were going to spend, whether it be travel, and so forth. So, before he said yes, we went through a line item detail on that budget with him, so he knew exactly what our expectations were.”
U of L is also in the first year of $2.4 million annual rent increase to play In KFC Yum Center, part of the arena’s debt restructuring agreement reached late last year.
