Rockcastle County Crash Kills 2, Closes Southbound I-75

wtvq.com

Kentucky State Police in central Kentucky say two people have died in a crash that has shut down southbound Interstate 75.

Trooper Lloyd Cochran says five 18-wheelers and a passenger car were involved in the crash around mile marker 71 in northern Rockcastle County. Cochran says all three southbound lanes and the shoulder are shut down.

The closure is expected to last for several hours while the scene is cleared and the wreck investigated.

Transportation Cabinet spokeswoman Amber Hale says traffic is being rerouted at mile marker 76 at Berea to Kentucky 25, which leads back to Mount Vernon, where motorists can get back on the interstate.

Cochran said police were called to the crash shortly before 1 p.m. EDT Tuesday.
