Texas-based company DartPoints plans to expand a data center campus in Lexington formerly owned by Lexmark.
The property, at 745 W New Circle Road in north Lexington, was purchased last month for $29 million, according to a Facebook post from real estate agency Haymaker Company. The campus already spans 29.5 acres of land, including around 81,000 square feet of data center space.
DartPoints plans to develop the site to support cloud, AI and other intensive computing. It would have the capacity for 20-30 megawatts, with plans to expand to 70 megawatts in the long-term. The company says it would also use “closed-loop, low-water-use heat rejection” to cool its facilities
The company says Lexington was chosen for its location between major connectivity markets like northern Virginia, Chicago and Atlanta. DartPoints also picked the location because of the existing infrastructure and support from local power companies, like Kentucky Utilities.
According to a release from the company, the center is already fully zoned for data center use and includes an on-site substation from KU.
The company says it’s working on planning and redevelopment work as it finalizes the date it will begin operations.
