A handful of people gathered outside the Richmond courthouse Saturday afternoon as part of a series of protests against the Trump administration.

The protest coincided with a nationwide demonstration called the ‘Fight the Trump Takeover’ movement over the weekend. Protestors rallied against plans to re-draw Congressional maps in states like Texas.

Organizers with Peaceful Bluegrass Resistance say they were protesting the administration more generally.

One protester, who went by DJ, says he’s out protesting a handful of issues.

“Locking up innocent, or, you know, any immigrant without any due process, shipping off to countries they've ever been to or are not from, absurd. Openly violating court orders and letting billionaires pay their way into any situation they want,” he said.

Craig Blair is an organizer with Peaceful Bluegrass Resistance. He says it’s part of a push to organize outside of Lexington.

“We know Lexington is a blue bubble. Fayette County is a blue bubble. We're going to be fine there. But our focus right now has to be to turn the House in ‘26 and to do that, we need to flip the 6th (District),” he said.

Around a few dozen people gathered in downtown Richmond as part of the protests. That included Ned Pillersdorf, who’s running for Kentucky’s 5th House District as a Democrat.
