Kentucky State Police Trooper Jude Remilien is recovering after being shot by the man who later killed two people and wounded two others Sunday in Lexington. According to KSP public affairs, Remilien was in stable condition Wednesday at an area hospital. Before taking the state police job, he was with the Versailles Police Department. His boss was then-Chief Mike Murray, who says Remilien was an excellent officer – and person.

“He treated everyone with the utmost respect. You know, you always saw him out and about in the community. You know, never saw him without a smile. He was in great physical shape.”

Murray said he would have liked to have had ten more like him.

“Even when he left, he stayed into contact with officers of Versailles Police Department. And you know, wherever Jude's going to be, he's going to be very successful.”

A family member of the other victims says one of the injured is in stable but critical condition, while the other is stable and communicating.
